For Rich or For Poor

'Dying to Cross: The Worst Immigrant Tragedy in American History' by Jorge Ramos. Sadly, I feel like reading this book will open many people's eyes to the risk and danger that so many people are so willing, and even desperate, to expose themselves too in order to gain entry into the United States. Jorge Ramos rarely preaches as he recounts the disturbing story of a journey for 60 or so Mexicans, Guatamalans, and Hondurans that went terribly, terribly wrong. A journey that ended with the unnecessary deaths of 19 people, including one small child. The book itself is written as one would expect a journalist with passion to write. The stories are clean and touching, and when Ramos has doubts about any aspect of his tale he tells you, which is rather refreshing.
'American Legacy: The Story of John and Caroline Kennedy' by David C. Heymann. I think I've read nearly every book ever written on the Kennedy family but this is my favorite, by far. I received it two days ago and am already done--because it's hard to put down once you've started. Heymann has managed to interview people who've never talked much before about Jacqueline, John and Caroline and the result is a compilation of stories and anecdotes never revealed before. It's a fair, well-balanced account of the lives of two of the most famous offspring in American history, providing insights into the relationship between the two siblings, as well as some of the feelings each had about the other's spouse. I highly recommend this amazing eBook that really ranks among the great works about America's First Family. AMER LEGACY eBook edition by Heymann, C., David
In American Legacy, #1 New York Times bestselling author C. David Heymann draws upon a voluminous archive of personal interviews to present a telling portrait of John and Caroline Kennedy. A longtime biographer of various members of the Kennedy clan, including Jackie and Robert Kennedy, Heymann covers John's and Caroline's childhood in the White House, the dark aftermath of their father's assassination, their uneasy adolescence, and the many challenges they faced as adults, all under the glaring eye of the media. He reveals John's and Caroline's loving but at times trying relationship with their larger-than-life mother, as well as Jackie's own emotional struggles, romantic relationships, and financial concerns following JFK's death.
